CRANIO FASCIAL DYNAMICS
THE HOWAT PROTOCOLS OF CRANIO FASCIAL DYNAMICS (CFD).
A BREAKTHROUGH APPROACH TO CONCUSSION AND TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY.
PIONEERING CRANIAL PROTOCOLS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS RECOVER FROM SYMPTOMS OF CONCUSSION
WHAT IS CRANIO FASCIAL DYNAMICS (CFD)?
As a Chiropractor for over 50 years, my mentor Jonathan Howat dedicated his professional life to helping patients with spinal and head trauma, culminating in the development of The Howat Protocols of Cranio Fascial Dynamics (CFD).
This innovative, non-invasive technique protocol directly addresses the connective tissue (dural membrane) distortion patterns within the brain that result from trauma to the head and upper neck. These traumatic injuries are not only sustained during impact sports like rugby, ice hockey, equestrian and diving, but are very often the results of everyday accidents and falls.
Dr Howat's extensive research and clinical application of CFD has transformed the lives of thousands of patients.
Applied via the mouth, around the skull base and the upper neck, the protocol focuses on restoring balance to the delicate connective tissues, or fascia, that surround the brain and spinal cord, and in turn supports the body in it's innate healing process.

AT THE OXFORD CONCUSSION CLINIC, I TRAIN PRACTITIONERS IN THE HOWAT PROTOCOLS OF CRANIO FASCIAL DYNAMICS (CFD), A GROUNDBREAKING APPROACH TO TREATING CONCUSSIONS AND TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES.

THE HOWAT 8 STEP PROTOCOL
The protocol aims to release torque or tension from the tissues that surround the brain and spinal cord, thereby:
Improving Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) Circulation > crucial for nourishing the brain, removing waste products and maintaining overall neurological health
Optimising venous and lymphatic drainage > this helps to remove cytotoxic waste and reduce the risk of conditions like chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
Enhancing Neurological Function > releasing fascial restrictions and reducing cranial torque can lead to enhanced neurological pathways, improved nerve function and communication.
Restoring Postural Balance and Alignment - Because fascia is continuous throughout the body, addressing fascial tension at the level of cranium and upper neck can positively affect the spine and pelvis, thereby helping correct postural imbalances.
POST-CONCUSSION SYNDROME
Post-concussion syndrome (PCS) is a condition that can cause persistent symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, and emotional disturbances long after a head injury. This syndrome is especially prevalent among athletes in impact sports and can have long-term neurological consequences if left untreated.
With 16 years of Chiropractic experience, I have advanced my expertise through certifications in Advanced Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) and Craniopathy via SOTO-Europe. My dedication to treating head trauma led me to specialize in Cranio Fascial Dynamics (CFD).
I am honored to co-lead the Concussion Clinic, where we combine CFD with Bioresonance therapy. This integrated approach has proven highly effective in alleviating symptoms, supporting recovery, and enhancing patients' quality of life.
